Carbon Fiber Products

Blog

Just started some colored carbon/kevlar B8 sets…

The camera doesn’t really do these pieces justice (my cheapo digital that is covered in resin coupled with fluorescent lights in the warehouse).  The look like a bright red and blue, but in person they are more of a deep, subtle color.  Once I add the resin, they will darken up a bit as well.

I’ll continue to post pictures of these sets as I run through the production stages.

8HS B8 carbon fiber trim clearcoated

Got the 8HS B8 trim clearcoated a little while ago and it turned out pretty good.  These pieces should look very similar to the OEM carbon fiber trim, minus the faux metal piece that sits on the edges of the OEM set.

Audi Cabrio carbon fiber trim production

Working on 20oz 2×2 twill cabrio set right now so I figured I’d post up some pics of it.  The front door pieces are insanely long, almost as big as the A8 door pieces.

Unfortunately, cabrio core sets of trim are a little tough to come by.  The original core that was sent to me was from the UK, and was a right hand drive set.  Thankfully we were still able to use all the pieces except for the two dash pieces.  We had to order new ones, so the dash pieces are a little bit behind the rest of the set.

Few teaser shots of 5HS fabric on a B6/B7 set

Just got done clearcoating the first set made with the new 5 harness satin (5HS) fabric I just got in.  It is a 6k 11oz fabric, so it is pretty high quality.  At first I wasn’t really sure how I felt about it from an aesthetic standpoint, but now seeing these pieces finally clearcoated I’m pretty happy with how it looks.  It is still pretty obvious that it is carbon fiber, as the fabric has a nice thick weave to it, but because it is woven differently than a standard twill, it has a very custom look to it.

Really looking forward to installing this set.

More progress on the custom Q7 set…

A ton of progress on the Q7 set has been made.  Sanded, trimmed, and clearcoated.  It will be polished and shipped out in the next few days.

All of the pieces have the extra fabric trimmed from the edges.

At this point the pieces were still pretty lumpy, so they were block sanded smooth.

Getting cleaned up for clearcoat.

After a few coats of clear, they are looking fantastic.  After the clear has set in a few days, all the little imperfections will get buffed and polished out.
