We were able to get the two custom carbon kevlar sets we’ve been working on clearcoated today. Very happy with the results. Before we start, the pieces look almost matte as they have been sanded down to 800 grit to make a nice, smooth surface for the clear to adhere to. Only going to need […]
and it turned out great. I’ll be wrapping these pieces up next week and shipping them off to their owner, so hopefully we see some installed pictures of this set real soon. It is really hard to capture the color with a camera, but I did my best: In certain lights, the red looks dark […]
Really hard to get good pictures of this fabric to show the true colors. At certain angles and in certain lights, the blue fabric almost looks black. If you look close you can catch a hint of dark blue: But then at other angles you can really see the blue:
Now that I’m an official vendor over at CadillacForums.com it’s the perfect time to do a full write up on the production of a CTS-V carbon fiber set of trim from start to finish. This particular set is going to be pretty custom, with red carbon/kevlar hybrid fabric being used on the main trim along the […]
A few months ago I got in contact with a member on Audizine to see if he was interested in having my first custom yellow carbon/kevlar trim set in his car. He happily obliged. I worked on his set and watched the progress he made on his car. So while it has taken a while to get […]
With a little bit of resin on the pieces you can start to see their true color (especially compared to the pieces with just raw fabric). These pieces will be going in the oven for cure in the next few days and then sanded smooth. After that, they’ll be ready for clearcoat.
I’ve done a few blue and red carbon kevlar sets for the B8 recently, so I figured I’d give a go at some colored B5 sets. These sets are in the beginning stages of production and will darken up considerably once the resin and clearcoat has been applied, but you can get a good idea […]
The camera doesn’t really do these pieces justice (my cheapo digital that is covered in resin coupled with fluorescent lights in the warehouse). The look like a bright red and blue, but in person they are more of a deep, subtle color. Once I add the resin, they will darken up a bit as well. I’ll continue […]
all polished up. The colors seem a little weird in the photos, but I think it’s just my camera and the poor florescent lighting in the shop. Hopefully when I get some installed pics of the set in the car in natural lighting the color will be much more uniform.
We were able to make quite a bit of progress on the custom red carbon/kevlar A5 seatbacks today. These should have clearcoat on them by the end of the weekend, and hopefully can be finished up shortly after that. Sam wetsanding out some of the big scratches after he blocked it smooth. A quick rinse […]
Finally finished polishing up the beltline and will be wrapping it up and shipping it off to its owner tomorrow. It should be at his door step (and hopefully installed) by the end of the week.
