and it looks fantastic. It might be hard to tell from these photos, as they look very similar to photos of most every other set I’ve posted, but I can see there has been a definitive upgrade in quality of the overall finish of the parts. They are much smoother and the gloss appears to […]
Few shots of some custom B5 beltline sets that I’ve been working on recently. First up is a plain weave set. It’s very similar to a standard 11oz 2×2 twill set, the weave is just slightly different. This plain is 9oz 1×1 weave. It’s got more of a checkerboard look the diagonal the twill sets […]
Lately I’ve seen an uptick in tuning companies selling a fabric that they call “carbon fiber wrap.” It is meant to be a low cost imitation carbon fiber for the masses. I think this is great. It’s an excellent alternative for people who otherwise couldn’t afford a real carbon fiber upgrade and want to spruce up […]
In our efforts to continually improve quality we’ve upgraded our clearcoat yet again. The old clearcoat was very good, but it was hard to apply and was a bit soft for the massive amount of polishing the end product received. After spraying the first round of the new clearcoat, I’m very happy with my selection. I spent […]
I’m liking this fabric more and more as I continue to complete sets with it. This is the 4th overall 20oz set I’ve completed (two B5 sets and this is the second B6/B7 set). The thicker fabric has a much tighter weave.
Few pics of the first of many pieces for Coran’s B6 A4. First up are the seatbacks. These are all cleaned up and ready for clearcoat. I’ll be dropping them off at a bodyshop to be clearcoated later this week. They are just too big for me to handle the clearcoating on my own and […]
Another new model we’ve been working on lately, the C6 A6. It is very near completion and will be sent to the customer in a week or so. I went with the standard 11oz 2×2 twill because I wanted to be sure the pieces weren’t too thick for the metal edges (more on that in […]
I decided to go with the 20oz 2×2 twill, after some hesitation because I wasn’t certain if the fabric would be too thick for the complex curves of the D3 A8. The shifter piece and the speedometer piece with their intricacies worried me the most. The thicker fabric is much harder to work with on […]
It’s been a while since I’ve had some time to make some blog posts (I’ve been sick the last few weeks) but I have a bunch of stuff to post over the next week or two. Lately, I’ve had some customers ask me about the difference between 20oz and 11oz 2×2 twill. I took a […]
Made some progress on my friend’s D3 A8/S8 trim. The resin is applied to the majority of the set and will spend the next few days curing. After its cured, I can trim off all the excess, start sanding it smooth, and getting the pieces ready for clearcoat. I’m a little behind on the dash […]
A friend of mine recently acquired a D3 S8. Before he picked it up he got a hold of me to if I could do something about the wood trim. I spent some time getting a few D3 cores shipped over from Germany so I could take care of him. These pics are of the […]
Almost 100 envelopes filled with sample scraps are ready to go and will be mailed out today. Everyone that requested a sample as of last night will have theirs mailed out today. I cut the samples smaller this time, so everyone that requested a sample will get one square of 11oz 2×2 twill and another […]
